Dragonball Z CCG: The Dragonball Z Collectable Card Game turned out quite better than I thought, but I had fairly low expectations. The cards have very nice graphics and cool screen captures, and Starter decks come with a neat little "Scouter". The whole "Anger" aspect of the game is neat too. However, there are clearly some things wrong with this game. First of all, the names: the names of the cards are REALLY lame. I mean, come on, with all the cool attacks in DBZ, the cards have name like "Orange Throw" and "Black Leg Smash" (I'm not sure those are actual names, but those are EXACTLY the kind of ones you find). Second: card mechanics. Most cards do exactly the same thing and some rarer cards are worse than common cards. The whole "color" thing seems a little off too. There's also the gameplay mechanics. You see the gameplay tends to become a little repetitive because of the lack of different and original cards. Finally, the worse thing about the game has to be the ways to win, and the ways you can't possibly win if you don't have lots of money to buy the game (you'll see what I mean if you read the manual). I mean, honestly, I'd rather have a "Magic: The Gathering" type game where you reduce your opponents health than a "get to the highest power level" type thing. Not to mention, if someone has another higher level than you do from buying more packs or getting a promo, there's no way for you to win! There's also the "collect the 7 dragonballs" way of winning, which once again, if you don't have all the balls (or a way of getting them from other players), you can't win! Clearly this game was created more for the collector than the player, which is fine, just be warned. Oh yeah, the prices vary from store-to-store, but they do tend to be fairly expensive. Overall: * * and 1/2 out of 5 stars
