Dragonball in a Nutshell: Dragonball was the first installment in the Dragonball saga. The manga was released in 1984 in "Shonen Jump", a manga-magazine for boys. It focused on a young boy with a tail named Son Goku who could transform into a giant monkey when he saw the full moon. Goku was a strong yet very innocent little boy who didn't have too much common sense. Yet he still seemed to be very lucky. Early on we are also introduced to Bulma who is a young girl-genious who is searching for the mystical Dragonballs to wish for a boyfriend. Dragonball chronicles the adventures of Goku through several Tenkaichi Budokais (Martial Arts Tournaments) and other battles with the Red Ribbon Army and Piccolo Damaio. It was more of a humorous series when compared to the other two and had a younger target audience. Dragonball is quite a cult hit in America, but not as popular in the mainstream as the next series: Dragonball Z
