Newbie Information:

Hello newbies!  You have picked a wonderful anime to get into!  The Dragonball series is possibly the most popular world-wide animation ever.  Here's a little background information you'll wanna know on how Dragonball came to be....

Dragonball first started as a manga printed in the magazine "Shonen Jump" in Japan.  It was written and drawn by the ingenious Akira Toriyama.  Shortly after it began, an anime was made based on the series.  The anime was renamed "Dragonball Z" when it got to the point when Raditz arrives.  "Dragonball Z" is probably the most popular of the Dragonball installments.  It was aimed more towards teens and had more violence than "Dragonball".

The manga eventually ended, as did the anime.  In 1995, the anime "Dragonball GT" was released.  It was very short and did not do too well considering Toriyama-san did not have much of a part in the making of this series (there was never a manga).  And that was the final installment in the Dragonball saga.

OK newbies, that's about all for the background information, why don't you check out the rest of the information under the "Series" heading.
