FUNi DVD Reviews: Well, Funimation is now bringing out new DVD's of Season 3 with the original Japanese show subtitled in English. YAY! We will post reviews of them as soon as we can get a hold of them. Enjoy. Dragonball Z: Captain Ginyu-Assault & Double Cross : Alright, here's the deal, you don't own this one yet? GO BUY IT NOW! Don't even bother reading the review, just buy it! At last, Funimation answers to the needs of hard core fans. Finally, its hard to believe, but I have seen commercially subbed Dragonball Z episodes. This DVD will just blow you away. It has both the original Japanese version and the "uncut" English version. The Japanese version is wonderfully accurate and subtitled by Steven "Damiao" Simmons from the net's own toriyama.org. Its really quite cool to have both Japanese and English versions on one disc so you compare the dialogue of both. It really makes you realize how far off the English version really is. This is the perfect opportunity for any newbies to get introduced into the Japanese series. However, there are some downfalls....first off, the subject-matter of these episodes aren't quite that exciting. They are interesting episodes, but not the greatest. Next, there's a little sloppy editing by Funimation in the beginning and ending, but no big deal. There is also no "What happened last episode" and "What's gonna happen next episode" from the Japanese series, which is disappointing because I really liked the music from those parts. The two songs aren't subbed either, but again, no biggie. If this is showing what's to come, we're all in for big things with the coming DVD's. Hopefully they'll add some extra's too. Well, anyway go buy it. Its a great first try for Funimation. ~Son Tew Go read Chris' great review at DBZ Uncensored!
